We wanted to send out a quick update. We are currently at about 40% of our total support that we need before we can leave for the field. We had said that when we reached this point in our support that we would put the house on the market. So with that said, the house is now officially on the market as of this week. We trust God in His timing as we take this step. The economy may not be great but our God is!! We would ask that you would pray that God would bring the buyer of His choosing for His house. Selling the house is one of the first steps toward getting to the mission field.
We hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving week. We have a lot to be thankful for!!! God has blessed us in so many ways, and we thank Him especially for faithful family and friends! We appreciate you all and pray that you would all have a blessed and safe Thanksgiving!
Our prayer Requests:
* Please pray that the Lord will sell our home in His timing. * We are looking to go back to Honduras in February. We are praying that God will provide the finances for this trip as well as for child care while we are away. * Please pray that we will reach over 50% of our support by December. * We are praying that we will have at least 80% of our support by March so we can apply to Language school in San Jose, Costa Rica.
We thank you all for your financial and prayer support. We love you all and are thankful for you! God bless!!
First I just want to send a shout out to one of our most faithful friends of the blog - Hey Lisa, sorry we have kept you waiting so long! : )
Anyway.... We are now at 30% of our total support needed to go to language school in Costa Rica. We are very excited and look forward to serving in Honduras. Thank you all so very much for your financial support as well as your prayer support! We are thankful that God has blessed us and placed so many amazing people in our lives. Please pray that the Lord will raise up another 130 families to support us monthly at $25.00. The board of FCM requires us to have consistent monthly support to allow us to not only to get to Honduras but to stay in Honduras. God has been so faithful and we thank him every day for His gracious blessings.
In the mean time we are busy with everyday life. Both kids are in middle school and play sports for the school. Kimi runs cross country and Dylan plays soccer. Brian is playing in a basketball league and I am taking a Spanish class. Both Brian and I are getting ready for a triathlon in October ( can you ever really be ready for one of those?? I guess I can if I put the candy down!)
We are currently planning the 3rd Annual Forgotten Children Ministries Golf Tournament. We are excited to see the support that this tournament has had over the last several years. The tournament is scheduled for Friday, October 10, 2008 at The Divide Golf Course. If you are interested or have any questions regarding playing or sponsorship please email us at sfoster120@yahoo.com. 100% of the profits of this tournament goes directly to Forgotten Children Ministries to benefit the abandoned street children in Honduras.
If you know of any churches or Sunday school classes that would be interested in hearing about FCM please let us know.
Again thank you all for your love, prayers and support!
God bless,
Brian and Steph
We had the honor to speak at Lakeview Baptist Church tonight. We cannot thank Pastor Steve enough for allowing us to share God's call for our lives. Gordon Diegleman and myself shared our families call to Honduras and then showed the FCM video. We were then able to speak with church members in the back of the church to answer questions. We appreciate this body of believers and cannot thank them enough for their hospitality. It is awesome to see the fellowship we have as Christians!!
We had an amazing week in Honduras and thank you all for your prayers! It is always great to go but hard to leave. Each trip that we take God confirms to us that we are following His will. We look forward to the day that we can say to the boys "see you tomorrow", not "goodbye!" We are so thankful that God has allowed us the privilege to serve Him in this way.
We flew into San Pedro Sula on Saturday and then traveled six hours via school bus to Tegucigalpa. Intitally we asked God why He would have us travel 6 hours by bus to our destination when if we could fly into Teguc it would be about a 45 minute bus ride. God was gracious to allow us to know why we had a hour bus ride when the ministry was able to pick up a street boy named Hector that lived about 2 hours from San Pedro. The ministry was able to build a relationship with the boy and his family that was only made possible by the long travel back and forth from Teguc and San Pedro. Our God is mighty in wisdom and power. His ways are not our ways. We were greeted that night by the little boys who live at the shelter and it was awesome to see them and receive their hugs.
On Sunday we went to church in Monte Redondo and then spent the day at the Finca Grace farm with the boys. This was our first time to see the "big" boys and it was great to see them all again. Sunday evening we headed into downtown Tegucigalpa to buy food for the feeding ministry. On the way home, about 8:00 p.m., our bus swerved to miss a man who was left for dead in the road .(he was hit by a car just minutes before) The car that hit him was no where in sight and to say that this man was in bad shape is a serious understatement. It was very disturbing to see a man dying right before your eyes, especially when you can do nothing to help him. What was more disturbing was to see the people at the scene of the accident taking pictures of this very gruesome scene, as well as watching as peole steel from a dying man. We had six kids on the bus with us, all were immediately told to get down under a seat. I am very thankful that our kids were sparred from this image.
We started the feeding ministry on Monday morning and continued through Wednesday afternoon. It was amazing to see how God has worked in the life if some of these families. We spent time in a 10'x8' foot home that housed 14 people, and we climbed to visit a shack home that is located at the top of a steep hill under a billboard on the side of the highway. We visited a home that was made entirely out of 100's of pieces of misc. items such as car bumpers, refrigerator doors, old signs, etc. No matter where we went we were welcomed with open arms. We took food to a house that was located down a dirt path and when we came back, our bus was "mobbed" by the people of that community wanting food and clothes for their families. We were able to give what we had, unfortunately it wasn't enough for everyone. We were also able to hand out Bibles and share the Gospel with several. Kimi was handing clothes out through the bus window and stayed busy doing that for quite a while. After we left we headed out to another home where we have been several times before in the past. We came to encourage our Sister in the Lord and to make sure she was okay. She had two visitors over that day, one who was a Christian and one who was not. I was able to share the Gospel with this girl and she accepted Christ as her Savior. She was excited about her decision and I was thankful she was visiting that house - a divine appointment! To make it even more personal, her name was Stephanie as well! These are just a few of the stories about God's precious people that we visited during the week. On Wednesday night, Brian had the privilege of preaching at the church in Monte Redondo. He spoke on the fruits of a Christian using multiple passages from the New Testament. Our prayer is that the boys will hunger for God's Word and will have a desire to grow in His grace and knowledge.
We held the 1st Annual Finca Grace Soccer Tournament which lasted 3 days. We were able to bring down soccer jerseys for each team as well as first and second place prizes. We had four teams with the "gringos" as team captains. This turned out to be a very serious tournament and the boys held nothing back. After three days of tough competition Brian's team won and are the reigning champions!! (He is being accused by the other North American captains for having a stacked team - and they are probably right!)
We had a fund raiser before we left so that we could take the boys off the farm and to go do something fun. So we decided to take them to a water park called Aqua Splash. It was a long day, but it was fun. Everyone had a great time including the Honduran staff. We are grateful for everyone that donated to the Ride to Rescue.
As I end this blog, we want to thank everyone for their prayers. We felt God's protection and saw His faithfulness to open doors as we went about our daily schedule. We are anxious to get to Honduras and to work side by side with Richie and Lori Womack, missionaries currently serving with FCM. They are a special couple and we love them. We cannot wait to serve our Lord thru discipleship of the boys and reaching out to those kids that are out on the streets. Be in prayer for the Womacks, for the boys and the rest of the mission teams that will be traveling this summer.
Remember as Christians, we are God's workmanship created in Christ Jesus to do good works (Eph. 2:10).
We are very excited to be leaving for Honduras tomorrow afternoon. We have the privilege of seeing our boys and taking them to a water park for a fun day!!! We will also have the opportunity to visit families who live in local villages and bring them a month's supply of food and share the gospel with them. If they have a relationship with the Lord we will encourage them and pray with them. Please be in prayer as we are bringing Kimi and Dylan and have a 6 hour bus ride to the shelter. Pray for safety, good health and most importantly that God would use us to share the love of His Son to those that do not know Him.
We want to thank all of our monthly supporters. God has graciously provided us ten more families to support us on a monthly basis. THANK YOU!!!! We are now at twenty three. We praise God for His goodness to us. We are humbled and so grateful for each of you.
We are now four weeks away from our next visit to Honduras! We are very excited and look forward to a wonderful week of ministry. We look forward to seeing all of the boys as well as the precious families in the community. Please keep us in your prayers as we will be traveling with the kids as well as with my Mom. In a very short period of time the enemy has tried to take our eyes of the task that lays before us and has tried to put our focus and attention else where. This is par for the course and after several trips we know that our only choice is to put the full armor on and fight off the attacks! One of my favorite songs has a line in it that says:
"So I thank Him for the mountains, and I thank Him for the valleys, I thank Him for the storms He has brought me through. If I never had a problem, wouldn't know that He could solve them, wouldn't know what faith in His Word could do." - I love that!
Please pray for us as we continue to raise our support. We are still at 10% and we are praying that the Lord would bring new partners to join us on our journey to Honduras. Many people have asked us when we are leaving. Our goal is August 2009, next fall. However, we have to have 100% of our support raised before we can leave. We will be speaking at a church in California this month and we look forward to sharing our call with our friends and family. We are very thankful for all of our prayer and financial supporters. We could not do this without you. God bless!

Hello Brothers and Sisters in Christ!
I am excited to share with you that my mother in law Kaye is going with us July 19th through the 26th to Honduras. She has raised the majority of her support to go and we are so excited to see God provide. The kids will also be going so it will be a great trip as a family. I would ask that you pray for our team. We have the Diegelman family, the Nifong family, Kaye, and Cindy and her daughter Allison from Indiana going with us. Our goal is to do food ministry in the morning and then to build relationships with the boys in the afternoons. Pray that God would allow the people that we will be sharing the gospel with to be open to His love, pray that the time with the boys will be encouraging for them, pray for safety and good health for our team, and lastly pray that God will provide all of the funds needed for each of our team members. If anyone is interested in going, we still have room! We would love to have you and know that God will provide for you to go. Please send us an e-mail at sfoster120@yahoo.com.
Thank you so much for your faithful prayers and financial support. We are so grateful!
God is good, all the time!
In Christ,
Brian and Steph
